What You’ll Need:

  • Cardboard box (a shoebox lid would be perfect)
  • Green paint
  • Green paper
  • Felt fabric (in the colors of your vegetables)
  • Medium size popsicle sticks
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissor
  • Craft knife
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Printable (optional)

01. Gather your supplies

Craft Template

02. Make the veggie garden base

Find a box for your garden and print the veggie templates (optional) – right click, open image in new tab, and print.

Paint your cardboard box green – it might need two layers of paint!

Cut grass from green paper to decorate the outside of your garden/box. Measure the height of your box first and add about 1 inch so the grass peaks out above the box. Glue the grass around all four sides of your box.

Mark on the box where you want your veggies to go and carefully make small cuts.

 03. Prep your veggies

Think about what kind of vegetables you would like in your garden. You can use the printable as a template for your vegetables but you can also come up with your own vegetables. It’s handy to first draw your vegetables on paper/cardstock so you can cut them trace them on the felt fabric. Cut the felt pieces as well!

Felt vegetables

Glue your felt vegetables together and give them a pair of googly eyes if you haven’t yet, then glue each vegetable on top of a popsicle stick.

 04. “Plant” your veggies

Stick your veggies in the base and enjoy your masterpiece!

What You’ll Need:

01.

Gather the craft supplies and watch the craft tutorial (video below).

Roll out a piece of clear foil.

Lei craft materials

02.

Arrange the candy evenly on the clear foil (see video). We placed 5 times a small hand of candy on the foil. Try to keep about 1-inch wide spaces between the candy.

Wrap the foil around the candy and secure with a piece of tape between each candy section. Now you have ½ of your lei. Repeat this process, so you end up with two ½ leis.

Lei craft materials

03.

Tape the two ends of each candy lei together, so you end up with one big lei.

Completed lei craft

04.

Cut 10 pieces of ribbon (depending on the amount of candy sections you created). Each ribbon piece should be around 5-7 inch.

Tie each ribbon around the clear foil on top of the tape.

Crayon candle craft

What You’ll Need:

  • Old or new (wax) crayons
  • Paper cups
  • Ice cube mold and/or small glass
  • White candle wax or plain white candles
  • Candle wick
  • Coconut oil (optional)
  • Spoon or popsicle sticks for stirring
  • Skewer (or anything to hold your wick in place)
  • Bowl to melt the wax
  • Microwave, stove or oven (all three will work to melt your crayon and wax)

01.

Gather the craft supplies and watch the craft tutorial (video found below)

Fill a big cooking pot with water and heat it on the stove. Inside, lay a bowl with the white
wax – the wax will melt slowly. When fully melted, put your stove on low heat just enough to keep the water warm and the wax liquified. Be careful with the heated wax and help your children at all times.

02.

Peel the tags off the crayons. Soak your crayons in water for 10 minutes to peel them off more easily.

Fill the paper cups with the crayon colors you would like to use. You can use one paper cup for each color or mix multiple colors in a cup and blend your own. Helpful hint: Break/cut the crayon before placing in the cup.

Add one small spoon of coconut oil to each cup (if you don’t have coconut oil, don’t worry, it works without).

03.

Prepare your candle mold, you can use a glass or an ice cube mold. Place your wick in the middle and secure your wick with a piece of cardboard or a skewer and tape (see craft tutorial).

Put one of the paper cups with crayon in the microwave for 1 minute. Give it a stir and
microwave again in 30 second intervals until wax is completely melted. Heat one cup at a time and stay close to the microwave when heating the cup.

Carefully pour the melted crayon/wax mix in your candle mold. Only fill op a small layer so you can layer your colors evenly. Help your child with this step.

04.

Let the wax cool down for 20/30 minutes before you pour the next layer on top. After 10
minutes you can carefully place the mold in the fridge to fasten the process.

Repeat this process and continue to pour layers in your mold, make sure you give each layer time to cool down.

Yay! your crayon candles are done. Make sure you wait one hour before taking the candles out of the mold.

What You’ll Need:

01.

Go outdoors and search for the perfect stick, preferably one with many side branches. If you can’t find your perfect stick, you can combine multiple smaller ones in one vase.

Candy Tree craft_sticks and Gummi-Snaps

02.

Grab a bowl or plate for the Gummi-Snaps candies. This works easier when you’re crafting with kiddos around.

Pro tip: Introduce some Gummi-Snaps math or color sorting here, too!

Gummi-Snaps on plate

03.

Preheat the glue gun and place the gun on a piece of cardboard or old plate in case it leaks
glue. Help the young kids put the glue on the candies. Older kids might be able to use a glue gun themselves.

Hold the candies on the branch for 10 seconds until they are secure. You can ask your
child to count to ten with each candy piece for extra math practice.

Gummi-Snaps and glue gun

04.

Make sure all side branches are decorated with colorful Gummi-Snaps candies.

When the branch is fully decorated, place your candy tree in a nice vase. In the vase, you can
add some old newspaper pages to make sure the jellybean tree is secure.

And that’s it! 🙂
